I was born and raised in New York City, moved to Boulder, CO in 1986 and then to North Carolina in 1994. QTH is Shelby, NC home of The Shelby Hamfest!!
I am a professional photographer with many published credits including National Geographic Magazine, Sports Illustrated and many more. I also own a fully equipped studio/gallery located in Shelby, NC
I have been listening to shortwave and scanners since the late 1970's, been on 11 meters from 1975 to 2005. On May 31, 2008 I took the Technician test and passed. One year later on June 11, 2009 I took the General test and passed that to! Passed the Extra Exam on June 27, 2015

I can be found on the local repeaters 145.190, and 145.350. I'm also very active on Echolink (Node # 396255). On HF I work a lot of digital, PSK31, JT9, JT65, FT4, FT8, and RTTY. I am an Accredited ARRL Volunteer Examiner (VE), ARRL Field Examiner (FE), and ARRL Registered Instructor. I also hold various FEMA Certificates... IS-100a, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800b, and IS-802. I am also Skywarn trained and hold both Basic and Advanced Skywarn Spotter Certificates.
There are many facets to our lives that impact our daily living and that influence who we are, but the thing that brings us together is ham radio, literally. We are a community of communicators and are members of a great hobby that brings people together. You will not find a more diverse hobby.
