I'm a retired biology teacher living in Northern Florida with my wife (KN4CRK), a 7 ft. boa, 4 dogs (rescues), and 3 horses. I became interested in ham radio thru my brother, Neall (W5NED), who is my long-distance elmer. I passed my Tech exam in March of 2017, my General in August of 2017, and my Extra in February of 2018.
In December of 2017, I set up my first HF transceiver, an ICOM-7300 with an end-fed 34 foot J-pole antenna set up in my attic. In June of 2018, I added a 130’ EFHW antenna running 50’ in height over Oak trees on my property and most recently purchased a Yaesu FTM-7250D UHF/VHF digital/analog transceiver.
I have picked up conversations from 46 states and over 60 countries including Australia, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Guatemala, Africa, and Belgium and have logged over 450 QSO’s incuding 65 countries.
Presently, I have active logbooks on qrz.com, eqsl.cc, hrdlog.net, and lotw.arrl. By all means, send me a QSL card and I'd be glad to send one of mine in return!
Thanks to my brother's amazing guidance, I'm having a great time with my new retirement hobby!
