I started SWLing back in 1963, when I was 13, using my Grandparents Short Wave Radios. Got my Novice License, WN3HLI in 1967, and used the Heathkit DX40 and Lafayette HA-350 with a center fed dipole. Upgraded to General with 13 wpm in December 1967. Then upgraded to Advanced in 1969. Finally got my wpm up to 20 and passed the Extra in 1986 and received the call NS2X.
Started using Full Wave Loops about 30 years ago and find them very good for all bands. Currently using a 160 full wave delta loop at 40 feet (ICE) 80M Doublet up 40 ft. and an old Mosley TA33 at 25 feet, and have always run barefoot (100w). Have a J-Pole for 2 meters at 30 ft. Also 4/5 element yagi on 2m/70cm for satellites.
