First licensed in 1970 as PY1DPP, while in the Air Force stationed in the South Lake Sector of CINDACTA 1 in Brasília DF. Because of military duty, I was only able to switch to the A class in 1982. (at that time, you had to test in front of an ANATEL Examiner to do the up-grade). My call sign has been replaced to PY1EU class A.
I really liked the world of DX back then. Many days when I would get off work and activate the platform on ten feet, it was a crazy house working station after station in the band on CW. Lots of fond memories of those days.
The station's equipment at this time is a Kenwood TS-2000 driving an Ameritron ALS 500M amp, Icom IC-7600 as a back-up and an Icom IC-7300. For VHF and UHF I have an Icom IC-2820. Antennas for HF are a Force 12 yagi and Alpha Delta Parallel Dipole Antennas DX-CC (band 6).
