Welcome to my bio. My name is Jack and was born in Sydney Australia. My parents migrated to Australia from Greece in the late 1940s. Paris Cockinos my father was an electronics engineer who worked in the radio industry for his entire life. His achievement are many however he was elected to be a member NY academy of science by Professor Paul Santorini who worked under Albert Eistein in the 50's. One moment in history is that Paris Cockinos was held as a baby by Marconi. The father of radio and that is how radio began in our family. Later on in his 50's was given the call sign VK2YSF. As a child I was building all sorts of electronic kits and throughout my teens I played around with 27Mhz CB radios. That's when the urge to become a Ham Radio Operator kicked in.
My career has been in radio communications and electronics. Installing, maintaining and providing radio communications repeaters and Ground to Air radio comms for the airline industry. From robots> radios> weather monitoring>drones I dabble in anything electronics. And hear I am back at my favourite hobby. Ham Radio :)
My current station is located in South Coogee in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. I currenly have an ICOM IC7300 with a Multiband dipole and a multiband vertical. Due to my location it is impossible to have a yagi. Also have an openSpot 4, two pi-star hotspots, Motorola DMR portables and Yaesu FT5DE/A. My QSL card was designed back in the 80's by Garry Lightfoot.
Thanks for taking the time to read my bio.
