USN 1966-1970 - Vietnam veteran (April 1967 - December 1968). Radioman 3rd class.
New(ish) Ham. Took, and passed, my Technician and General tests in August of 2016 - took, and passed, my Extra Class in October the same year.
My vanity call sign, W5UTW, belonged to my dad from the 1950's and 1960's. He died in 1966 and I have been "planning" on getting my license and using his call sign forever. Finally did so last year (time of this writing, March 2017).
A member of GVARC (Guadalupe Valley Area Radio CLub). Hill Country React and am working on getting connected with ARES/RACES/SKYWARN.
I am a retired DoD employee, Granddad, Photographer, wood worker, I even do a little para cord work.
Like a lot of old people, my XYL and I are into our dogs (a pair French Brittany Spaniels att).
We like to RV but I haven't been long enough into the radio craft to get any kind of "portable" set up going. But will do so.
Hope to "meet" a bunch more folk. Glad I finally got my license, but, of course, certainly wish I had done it 50 years ago.
