First licensed as WN4DFW in 1966, I've never left South Carolina (though I was a military brat until my father retired from the USMC and we landed in South Carolina in 1964). Passed my General and became WB4DFW a week before the Novice ticket expired, moved on to Advanced in 1968 and finally passed the 20 wpm code test and theory exam for the Extra in 1981.
I worked in broadcasting after graduating with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Univ. of SC in 1974, continuing in the field in both radio and a little TV until 1982, when I took a public relations job at Clemson University. For about half of my career at Clemson, I worked in the PR office but began moving into computer support. In 1998 I jumped fully into computer work in Clemson's Chemistry Department and later for its College of Engineering and Science, finally being absorbed into the University's central computing support group in 2006. I stayed there until retiring at the end of June 2011 at the ripe old age of 58 after 29+ years and acquiring a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development.
