I have been a ham since 1973 and this is my origianl Call. I got my start in Miami Florida, USA, where I was able to have a decent antenna system and 1200 Watts of power. I used to be an avid DX'er, enjoyed QRP CW and loved handling phone patch traffic for our deployed personnel. Business took us to the mid west, until 2010, when we premenantly retired and moved from Minnesota to The Villages, a 55+ retirement community located in Central Florida. The city I lived in while in Minnesota was Bloomington ( home of the Mall of America) with a population of 82,000. The Villages now boasts a population of 100,000 and growing. While in the Midwest we faced antenna restrictions so I was not very active from the home base location but was able to take the rig (Kenwood TS-430S) and a mag mount to one the parks and had my very own field day. We continue to face antenna restrictions in our new location so I am operating stealth with an 88 foot long wire on the roof and an 88 foot counterpoise connected to an SCG 237 tuner mounted under the eve and my favorite antenna, a 22 foot Flagpole antenna tunned with another SCG 237 at the base. I have added an FT 897 to the shack and use both rigs regularly. You can usually find me on the digital modes, primarily PSK31 and JT65. Besides ham radio, I enjoy biking, fising and golf.
